Purpose
The Knowledge Management Technology Special Interest Group for the Federal CIO Council's Knowledge Management Working Group assesses technologies that claim to support or enhance knowledge management efforts. Vendors identified in a report commissioned from Dr. Etienne Wenger on technologies supporting communities of practice (CoPs) and vendors identified through other sources are invited — sometimes for multiple presentations — to present to representatives from a cross section of Federal agencies. The Knowledge Management Technology SIG seeks examples of function, features, systems interoperability, and accessibility.
SIG members have great talent, experience, and know the most prudent questions to ask to get at the most valuable answers. As of December 2001, the following products have been displayed to the SIG:
- Communispace
- Sametime and QuickPlace, Lotus/IBM
- eRoom
- Participate.com
- KnowledgeLEAD, Cadenza
- Simplify, Tomoye
- TheBrain
- Saffron Technology
- Hyperwave
|
The Knowledge Management Technology Special Interest Group is constantly searching for other products to scrutinize that may be of value to the KM community.
