There have been some changes to the Glenn Science & Engineering Library (GSEL) website recently...so what's new?
First, a closer look at the the 3rd (right) column on the website - this column can be found on every page of the Library's website, and contains some of the most-used and most important Library resources and services.
The first section of this column lists "Top Resources" - some of the most frequently used Library and Learning Center databases and training websites, including Science Direct, AIAA, IEEE Xplore, and TORPEDOUltra. The 'e-resources' link within this section will direct you to a spot where you can search or browse GSEL's electronic journals. You'll also find links to the Glenn Scientific & Technical Information (STI) Office and SATERN. (This list is an expanded version of the "Quick Links" from the previous version of the Library website.)
The next section of the column is a Galaxie search.
Galaxie is the Agency's Library catalog online; it lists the print and electronic materials ('holdings') available at each Center. Using this search box will direct you to the Galaxie website - your initial search, performed here at the GSEL website, will search all of Glenn's print and electronic holdings. Once directed to the Galaxie site and your search results, you can perform additional searches, save lists of items, and more. See something in the catalog that's not on our shelves or is only available at another NASA library? Use one of the forms in the "Library Forms" section (more info below) to request that item via interlibrary loan.
Below the "GSEL Social" section of this column you'll find "Library Forms". These are forms used to register with the Library or to request items or reference assistance.
The GSEL Patron Registration form is one that all Library customers are asked to fill out; it ensures that we have correct and up-to-date contact information for each customer and allows you to check out GSEL and interlibrary loan materials. Can't find an item on our shelves or in our electronic holdings? Use the Patron Request System - an online form - to request individual items (articles, books, documents, videos, etc.). Looking for assistance with an in-depth literature search or finding information for a project or proposal? Use the Ask a Librarian @ NASA online form to request assistance from GSEL reference librarians.
Finally, at the end of the column you'll find links to an interactive map of the Library and Frequently Asked Questions.
Have questions? Contact the Library for additional assistance, and watch here for more overviews of the new GSEL website.
The Glenn Science and Engineering Library and Learning Center operate under the Center Operations Directorate (code C), Logistics and Technical Information Division (LTID) (code CO). It is managed by the Technical Information and Logistics Services (TIALS) contract (SGT, Inc.). The GSEL website is available to GRC employees (civil service and support service contractor) only.
